The Los Angeles Urban Rangers' "creatively subversive civic acts" to expand awareness of the LA River are noted in this article documenting centuries of power struggles over the Los Angeles River. Rivers are shaped by the development of cities as urban landscapes, just as the cities are shaped by their relationship to the river.
